Ortho Evra

Ortho Evra > Ortho Evra FAQ

Ortho Evra is unique compared to many existing birth control methods. It is used over a significant length of time, is absorbed via the skin, and causes dangerous Ortho Evra side effects. The following frequently asked questions (FAQs) are presented to further your understanding of the Ortho Evra patch.

What is Ortho Evra?
Ortho Evra is a birth control patch which is placed on the skin of the user. The patch releases small amounts of estrogen and progesterone which are absorbed through the skin. Similar to the effect of birth control pill, the patch prevents pregnancy by suppressing ovulation.

How effective is Ortho Evra?
Much like its pill counterpart, the Ortho Evra birth control patch is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy.

What are the side effects of the patch?
The most common side effects are nausea, headache, breast tenderness, and irregular bleeding. These symptoms will usually resolve in the first 1-3 months of use.

The increased risk for heart attack and stroke is not a documented side effect for users of the original patch. A similar, reduced risk exists for users of the pill. If any of the following symptoms are experienced while using the patch, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

* sudden abdominal pain
* unexplained chest pain or shortness of breath
* severe headache
* blurred vision
* severe leg pain (calf or thigh area)
* weakness in one side of the body

I have experienced health problems after using the Ortho Evra patch. Should I contact an attorney?
Perhaps. There is the potential for a settlement or other legal action if it can be shown your injuries were the result of using the Otho Evra patch. Time limits, known as a statute of limitations, may impact your ability to sue.

How much does an attorney evaluation cost in these types of cases?
There is no cost to have your case evaluated by the Ortho Evra birth control patch attorneys at VanDerGinst, Law P.C.
